Number 10 worksheets
A number 10 worksheet for ages three to five, in preschool or kindergarten. It prints eight rows of 10 as dotted outlines on penmanship guides, with room after each trace to write 10 alone. Ten is the first number written with two numerals, a 1 and a 0, side by side.

One page for every number
Each number from 1 to 20 has its own page, with its strokes in words, the mix-ups to watch for and a sheet of that one numeral to trace. The numbers 1 to 10 are preschool pages and 11 to 20 kindergarten ones.
What's on each sheet
- Number tracing. Trace each number across the line. Then write it yourself on the rest of the line. 8 rows per page.
Every version prints on US Letter or A4, with its answer key on the last page.
Whole ranges, like 1 to 10 or 11 to 20, print from one form on Preschool number tracing.
How to teach this
Write the 1 first: a straight line from the top line down to the bottom line. Then lift, leave a small gap, and make the 0: start at the top, go round to the left, down to the bottom line and back up to close it where you began. The two should sit close, not touching and not far apart. Ten is both hands, every finger up, and a ten frame (two rows of five boxes) shows it well: fill the boxes with buttons or coins and count them. When 10 is steady, the 11 to 20 sheet is the next step.
Watch for: Writing the two numerals the wrong way round, as 01. The 1 always comes first, on the left. Say one, zero as you trace, in that order. Starting the 0 at the bottom or going round to the right. The 0 starts at the top and goes left, like an O or a c. Starting there makes the numbers after 10 easier, because every 0 in them is made the same way. A big gap between the 1 and the 0, so it reads as two numbers. Keep them close, about a finger's width apart at most.
Common questions about number 10
- Why is 10 written with two numbers?
- We write every number with just ten numerals, 0 to 9. After 9 we start again, with a 1 that means one ten and a 0 that means no ones. A preschooler does not need that yet; it is enough to know that 10 is a 1 and a 0.
- Does my child need to know zero before writing 10?
- It helps. Zero is the shape of the 0 in 10, round and closed. The 0 to 9 sheet on the number tracing page prints a whole row of zeros for practice.
- What comes after the number 10 sheet?
- The 11 to 20 sheet on the number tracing page. Every number on it is a 1 followed by another numeral, so the shapes are ones your child already knows.
