How to teach this

Tie every fact back to multiplication: for 24 ÷ 4, ask "four times what makes twenty-four?" If a fact stalls, share 24 counters into 4 groups and count one group.

Watch for: Remainders mean you made a mistake. A remainder is normal when the number does not divide evenly. The answer is always smaller. Quotients can be small when the divisor is large.
