Tap to see another sample sheet. The picture follows the difficulty you pick.

Every problem on these sheets is from the 12 times table, 12 × 0 through 12 × 12, shuffled so your child recalls each fact rather than counting down the list. Third graders use one-table sheets to fix a single table before mixing it with the rest.

How to teach this

The 12s are the last table and the one that shows why tables are worth knowing: 12 × 7 is 10 × 7 plus 2 × 7, two facts already known. Practise that route until the answers come straight. Twelves turn up in time (hours), money (dozens) and measurement (inches), so they earn their place.

Watch for: Kids add the 10s fact and the number once (12 × 7 = 77). It is the 10s fact plus the 2s fact: 70 + 14. Kids mix up 12 × 7 (84) and 12 × 8 (96). Build both from tens plus twos and the confusion goes.

Common questions about 3rd grade 12 times table

What is the easiest way to learn the 12 times table?
Tens plus twos. 12 × 6 is 60 + 12 = 72. Both parts are tables your child already knows.
Why learn the 12s at all?
Dozens, hours on a clock, inches in a foot, and fluency with the two-line method later. Many schools stop at 10; the 11s and 12s are a short step past it.
