Every version prints on US Letter or A4, with its answer key on the last page.
How to teach this
Sorting is the whole battle for median: have your child rewrite the data least to greatest every time, even when it looks ordered. For mean, estimate first: the answer has to land between the smallest and largest values. One word per measure helps it stick (middle, balance, repeat, spread), and range is a single subtraction, not a list.
Watch for: Kids take the middle number of the list as written without sorting first. Order the data from least to greatest, then find the middle. Kids mix up mode and median: the mode is the value that appears most often; the median is the one in the middle after sorting.
Common questions about mean, median, mode & range
- What do the problems look like?
- Each one is a short data set of five to seven values and a single instruction (find the mean, the median, the mode, or the range) with a line for the answer.
- Will the mean come out even?
- Yes. Every set is built so the mean is a whole number, the mode is unique, and median questions use odd-sized sets. The point is knowing what each measure means, not wrestling with remainders.
