6th grade histograms worksheets
Histogram worksheets for sixth grade show data grouped into bins like 10–19 and 20–29, drawn as touching bars. Questions ask how many values sit in one bin and which bin holds the most. Each bar counts a range, not a single value.

The kind of problems you'll get
Use each histogram to answer the question.
-
How many values are in the 20–29 bin?
Answer: 7
- How many more values are in the 15–19 bin than the 25–29 bin?
- How many values are in the data set?
Every print pulls a fresh set of problems at this level, so a make-up test or a second sibling never gets the same sheet.
What's on each sheet
- Fluency. Use each histogram to answer the question. 6 questions per page.
Every version prints on US Letter or A4, with its answer key on the last page.
How to teach this
Start every problem at the axis: find the gridline the bar touches and say the count out loud. Then ask what the label means: the 10–19 bin holds every value from 10 through 19, and you cannot tell where inside it they fall. For totals, add all the bar heights; a quick pencil tick above each bar keeps the sum honest.
Watch for: Kids read a histogram like a bar graph of single values. Each bar covers a whole range, and the individual values disappear into their bin. Kids answer with the tallest bar's label when the total is asked. The total means adding every bar's height, not naming the biggest bin.
Common questions about histograms
- What is on the worksheet?
- Each problem is a histogram (touching bars over binned intervals like 10–19 and 20–29, with a counted axis) plus one question: a bin's count, the total number of values, or which bin holds the most.
- How is a histogram different from a bar graph?
- A bar graph counts separate categories; a histogram counts ranges of numbers, which is why the bars touch. Once a value lands in the 20–29 bin, you know its range but not the exact number.
