Elapsed time word problems for third grade tell a short story with a start time and an end time, like practice from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., and ask how long it took. Times land on five-minute marks and stay inside the morning or the afternoon.

  2. 4th grade

Word problems for grade 4 rotate the missing piece: sometimes the story hides how long something took, sometimes when it ended, sometimes when it began. Times run to the exact minute and some spans cross noon. It's the time-interval work 4.MD.A.2 describes, told as story problems.
