Every problem on these sheets is from the 7 times table, 7 × 0 through 7 × 12, shuffled so your child recalls each fact rather than counting down the list. Third graders use one-table sheets to fix a single table before mixing it with the rest.

How to teach this

The 7 times table is the one most children find hardest, because there is no doubling or ending pattern to lean on. Lean on turn-arounds instead: 7 × 2, 7 × 5, 7 × 10 are already known from other tables, which leaves 7 × 3, 7 × 4, 7 × 6, 7 × 7, 7 × 8 and 7 × 9 to learn as facts. Short daily rounds beat one long session.

Watch for: Kids guess 7 × 8 as 54 or 48. It is 56; the 5-6-7-8 line is the quickest way to fix it. Kids treat 7 × 4 and 4 × 7 as different facts. They are the same product; knowing that halves the table.
