Two-digit by two-digit multiplication, stacked: one line for the ones digit, one for the tens, then add. Fourth graders learn the two-line algorithm here, on one shape only, so the place-value shift is the whole lesson.

Fifth graders multiply two-digit by two-digit numbers fluently, with a carry in every problem. The sheet keeps to this one shape so practice stays on the algorithm's rhythm before it stretches to three-digit factors.
