Cursive letters flow: each one is written in one motion, with an entry stroke that leads in and an exit stroke that leads out.

2nd grade
Second graders meet the cursive alphabet letter by letter: entry stroke, body, exit stroke, written in one motion on the same penmanship guides as printing. Each sheet draws a fresh handful of upper- and lowercase forms to trace and then write unaided.

3rd grade Core grade
Each print is a different sheet. You don't need to sign up.
Third grade is the classic cursive year. The full 52 letterforms come up in rotation, and the goal shifts from recognizing each shape to producing it without stopping mid-letter. Fluency here is what makes joined writing possible later.

4th grade
Fourth graders polish: consistent slant, even size, clean loops on the tall and tail letters. At this level the sheet works as a diagnostic; whichever letters still wobble get the pencil time, and the rest just get warmer.
