Correlative conjunctions worksheets

Each print is a different sheet with its own answer key. You don't need to sign up.

Correlative conjunctions work in fixed pairs: either/or, neither/nor, both/and, not only/but also, whether/or. Spot the first half, and the second half is already decided.

Three grades, two different sets of sentences: 5th and 6th grade share one. Print one here, or open a grade for examples and teaching notes.

Fifth graders complete the classic pairs, either/or, neither/nor, both/and, whether/or, not only/but also, writing the partner the opening word demands.

  2. 6th grade

    Examples and teaching notes

Sixth graders use correlative pairs in their own sentences and keep the two halves grammatically parallel, the polish move that marks strong writing.

  3. 7th grade

Seventh graders complete correlative pairs from either end: the blank can be the first word (neither ... nor) as well as the second. Along with either/or, neither/nor, both/and, not only/but also and whether/or, they meet rather ... than and no sooner ... than, and the two halves often sit a full clause apart.
