The kind of problems you'll get

Complete each problem. Use the models and show your reasoning where asked.

  1. There are 100 cm in 1 m. Convert 3 m to centimetres.

    Answer: 3 × 100 = 300 cm.

Most problems on this sheet sit beside a picture, model or diagram, so this is the worked example the sheet itself prints. The answer key on page two prints the answer under every problem.

Every print pulls a fresh set of problems at this level, so a make-up test or a second sibling never gets the same sheet.

What's on each sheet

Every version prints on US Letter or A4, with its answer key after the problems.

This sheet is one of the versions on the 6th grade equivalent ratios & ratio tables page, with its own difficulty choices and its own answer key.

How to teach this

Ask for the multiplier out loud before the blank gets filled: "2 became 8, that's times 4." In the tables, have your child pencil the multiplier next to each row instead of eyeballing the columns. If addition creeps in, cook up the counterexample: a mix of 1 cup sugar to 2 cups flour doesn't taste the same at 2 and 3. In conversions, write the units beside both quantities so the direction of the ratio stays visible.

Watch for: Kids add the same amount to both sides, turning 2 : 3 into 4 : 5. Equivalent ratios multiply: 2 : 3 doubled is 4 : 6. Kids scale only the side with the blank. Find the multiplier from the complete pair first, then apply it to the other part.
