Each word appears twice in light gray for tracing, then once as a blank line for writing it without help.
Every print pulls a new set of words at this level, so a make-up test or a second sibling gets a different mix.
What's on a 4th grade sheet
4th grade sheets draw from 36 words, 8 to a page. None of these words are on 3rd grade sheets.

- Tracing. Trace each word two times. Then write it yourself on the line. 8 words per page.
Every version prints on US Letter or A4, with a word list on the last page.
How to teach this
Use the second traced copy as the check: is the slant the same at the end of the word as at the start, and do the tall letters match? Long words drift. If the end of a word leans, have your child pause at the halfway point next time and reset the pencil angle, then keep going.
Watch for: Cursive is not print letters with tails added. The joins change the letters: an r after a b starts higher than an r after an a, and a child who writes each letter and then draws a connector has not written cursive yet. Lifting the pencil mid-word to fix a letter breaks the flow the sheet is teaching. Finish the word, then trace it again; the second copy is for the fix.
Common questions about 4th grade cursive words
- What is a fourth grader working on with cursive words?
- Evenness over distance. Nine-letter words show whether the slant, the letter size, and the spacing hold from start to finish. The traced copies give the model twice; the blank line is where the drift shows, and where it gets fixed.
- When does cursive move from words to sentences?
- When a full line of long words stays even without effort. At that point spacing between words becomes the new skill, and a sentence sheet is the next step.
