Silent letters (kn, wr, mb) worksheets

Some letters wrote themselves into words and then stopped talking. K is silent in knee, w in write, b in lamb. You spell them; you never say them.

2nd grade Core grade

Second graders read silent-letter words without stumbling and spell the common ones (know, write, climb) with the silent letter included, which is the hard half of the skill.

3rd grade
Third graders handle the whole families fluently, add relatives like gn (sign, gnaw), and use word history to remember spellings that no longer match sounds.
