The kind of sentences you'll fix

Finish the opinion with your reason, and write the whole sentence on the line.

  1. I think chores help because (team)

Fixed: I think chores help because our family works as a team.

  2. In my opinion, soup is best in winter because (warm)
  3. I believe sunny days are happiest because (outside)

Every print pulls a fresh set of sentences at this level, so a make-up test or a second sibling never gets the same sheet.

What's on each sheet

Every version prints on US Letter or A4, with its answer key on the last page.

How to teach this

Run the frame orally at dinner: I think ___ because ___, around the table. Opinions with reasons become the family's game, and the page just writes down what the mouth already owns.

Watch for: The because-half is the whole game: opinions are free, but reasons are earned. A child who reaches for a real reason is doing W.1's actual work. The key's model answer is one good possibility; any complete sentence with a sensible reason counts. The cue word steers without confining.

Common questions about opinion sentence frames

Why teach opinion writing so early?
W.K.1 asks kindergartners to state an opinion about a topic. The frame gives the sentence a shape, so all their effort goes into the thinking.
What counts as a correct answer?
Any complete sentence in the frame with a sensible reason. The key shows one model; the cue word suggests a direction without demanding it.
