The kind of problems you'll get

Solve each problem. Write your answer on the line.

  1. 2 + 2 =

    Answer: 4

  2. 10 − 8 =
  3. 9 − 1 =

Every print pulls a fresh set of problems at this level, so a make-up test or a second sibling never gets the same sheet.

What's on each sheet

Every version prints on US Letter or A4, with its answer key on the last page.

How to teach this

Count the filled circles out loud together. Say the whole fact: "four plus three equals seven." Then write the number. Celebrate when the picture matches the answer.

Watch for: Kids count all the way from one instead of starting at the bigger number. Counting on from 6 reaches 6 + 3 faster and with fewer slips. Kids expect subtraction to make numbers bigger when they misread the sign. Have them say plus or minus aloud before answering.
