Preschool counting & number recognition 0–10 worksheets
Preschool counting to 10 prints six groups of dots, big enough to touch one at a time, with a writing line under each group for the number. Half the groups of the kindergarten sheet and twice the room, for a child who is still learning that the last number you say is how many.

The kind of problems you'll get
Count the dots. Write how many.
-
Count the dots: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
Answer: 6
Most problems on this sheet sit beside a picture, model or diagram, so this is the worked example the sheet itself prints. The answer key on page two prints the answer under every problem.
Every print pulls a fresh set of problems at this level, so a make-up test or a second sibling never gets the same sheet.

How to teach this
Point at the dots with your child and count them out loud together, then say the last number once more before they write it. Three and four year olds often run ahead of their finger or stop before the last dot, and touching each one as they say its number fixes most of that. Six groups is a whole sheet at this age. Stop while they still want another one; a fresh sheet is one click away.
Watch for: Kids race through the dots and say more numbers than there are dots. Slowing down and touching each dot once fixes most of it. Kids count correctly to 7 and then write a 1 or a backwards 7. The counting is fine; the numeral needs practice, and the answer key shows the shape. Kids answer with the last number they know rather than the last dot they touched, so a row of 3 dots gets a 5. Ask them to point to the dot that goes with each number.
