Count the coins that are worth the most first, then count on. A dime is small, but it is worth 10 cents.

Print by grade

Counting coins worksheets for first grade show rows of coins drawn at their real sizes, already sorted so the biggest values come first. Your child names each coin, counts on from the largest, and writes the total in cents. The first row labels every coin's name as a reminder.

  2. 2nd grade Core grade

    Examples and teaching notes

Each print is a different sheet with its own answer key. You don't need to sign up.

Second grade counting coins worksheets shuffle the coins, so sorting by value comes first. Rows can pass one dollar, and those totals are written in dollar form, like $1.15. That matches 2.MD.C.8: solve problems with quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies.
