The kind of problems you'll get

Write <, >, or = in the circle.

  1. Write <, >, or =.

    Answer: <

  2. Write <, >, or =.
  3. Write <, >, or =.

Every print pulls a fresh set of problems at this level, so a make-up test or a second sibling never gets the same sheet.

What's on each sheet

Every version prints on US Letter or A4, with its answer key on the last page.

How to teach this

Before the symbols, ask the plain question: "which is more, 7 or 4?" Once the answer comes easily, add the symbol as a shortcut for the words. If your child mixes up < and >, have them draw the two dots on the big-number side first. The symbol almost writes itself.

Watch for: Kids flip the symbol and write 4 > 7. Remind them the open side always faces the bigger number, whichever side it sits on. Kids think = means 'now write the answer'. On these sheets it means both numbers show the same amount.

Common questions about comparing numbers to 10

Is my kindergartner ready for the < and > symbols?
Yes, once they can say which of two numbers is more. The symbols are just a fast way to write what they already know.
How big are the numbers on these sheets?
Both numbers in each pair stay between 0 and 10, matching the kindergarten standard. Equal pairs show up too, so = gets real practice.
