Ordering numbers across the grades
1st grade
Ordering numbers worksheets ask first graders to take three two-digit numbers and rewrite them from least to greatest. It puts comparison to work: check the tens digits, use the ones to break ties, and line the numbers up.
2nd grade
Second graders order four three-digit numbers at a time, sometimes least to greatest and sometimes greatest to least. Each problem takes several place value comparisons (hundreds, then tens, then ones), and close numbers like 421 and 412 make careful checking pay off.
